Practice Test 4 for Red Kangaroo (B2-C1) level – English

This test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. The allotted time is 30 minutes.

This test is suitable for students in grades XI-XII, studying at B2-C1 (CEFR) level. At this level, candidates can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. They can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. They can understand long and complex factual and literary texts, appreciating distinctions of style. They can understand specialised articles and longer technical instructions, even when they do not relate to their field.

The test is structured as follows:

• 2 reading comprehension text – reading a longer text and identifying its main points and the writer’s opinions and attitudes towards the topics covered
  TOPIC:
  Ragamuffin Day (PART I)

·         2 alternative sentence formation – restructuring a sentence whilst retaining its original meaning.

• 5 questions based on a cloze – choosing the correct option to complete the gaps in a longer text
  TOPIC:
  The Butterflies (Part I)

• 2 vocabulary questions – understanding the meaning of idiomatic phrases and choosing synonymous expressions to replace them

• 2 multiple-meaning words – selecting the word that fits into the blanks in all three sentences.

• 7 questions on general knowledge (related to English Literature, Geography, History, Arts, Logic, etc.).
