Practice Test 4 for Grey Kangaroo (B1-B2) level – English

This Grey Kangaroo (B1-B2) level test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. The allotted time is 30 minutes.

This test is suitable for students in grades IX-X, studying at B1-B2 (CEFR) levels. The candidate can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. They can read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints. They can understand contemporary literary prose. They can use simple and complex language structures.

The test is structured as follows:

• 2 reading comprehension text – reading a longer text and identifying its main points and the writer’s opinions and attitudes towards the topics covered
  TOPIC:
  Depeche Mode (Part I)

·         2 alternative sentence formation – restructuring a sentence whilst retaining its original meaning.

• 2 conversational patterns questions – choosing the best response to prompts

• 5 questions based on a cloze – choosing the correct option to complete the gaps in a longer text

TOPIC:
The History of Horses (Part I)

• 2 spelling questions – choosing the correctly spelled word, with context provided

• 7 questions on general knowledge (related to English Literature, Geography, History, Arts, Logic, etc.).
